Merry Christmas

We had quite the party over at the University of Utah Burn center on Christmas Eve.
We played games, had soup and sandwiches with Tayton.
Had fun with my sister to be, Tyson got engaged!  And had a blast with Kali!
Opened more presents. We got the best news ever that Tayton is doing so well he gets to go home for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then we went over to my Aunts house for the famous white elephant Christmas Eve party.

Got to spend time with my sister and her baby from California and surprise my mom.
And enjoyed some peaceful moments at home.  Merry Christmas!

Temple Square

We had a great Christmas season.  We saw the lights at Temple Square

Had delicious scones at winder dairy and drove down the Christmas street.
 Opened presents
 and spent time with family.

The best Christmas present, ever!!!!!

I drew Kali's family for Christmas this year.  What can you get a family that is going through so much.
I happen to know a friend that was able to get me in contact with the Alpine Garrison Star Wars group
and miraculously they set up a special visit for Tayton and his family.
First Princess Leia went to his room and he was super excited.
They had quite the cute discussion and then he was able to go out and meet some of her friends.
Darth Vader explained that he too was a burn victim and the force was strong with you and your family.
It was a very special moment for everyone that was there and it brought such joy, hope, and excitment to everyone.  I was so happy to be a part of it, and make it happen.
The star wars characters walked around the entire burn unit and cheered up many people including the staff.
It was a Christmas present I will always remember.
Even Austin loved them.  Merry Christmas!
Yes, you can call me the best Aunt EVER!!!!!

My Christmas Wish

The past month has been tough.  It's been a roller coaster of emotions.  I have been sad and depressed.  I felt empty and guilty buying Christmas presents because the thing I wanted most you can't buy with money.  I cried when we put up the Christmas tree because I knew my sister wasn't putting up hers.  I cried because I know the pain that goes along with living at the hospital and watching your child struggle to live.  But today as I turned the corner and walked into that little small hospital room and heard a little small voice "Aunt Christa!  Did you see my picture that Paul Millsap gave me?"  My Christmas wish came true.  I have my little nephew back.  I saw the light and joy in his face. I witnessed a true Christmas miracle and will never forget it.  I have learned that family is truly a gift and the amazing thing is that we are forever a family.  My heart goes out to all of those families that have lost loved ones.  I am truly thankful for all that I have and realize what a blessing they are.  He still has a ways to go and we will still be praying for you, but what a fighter you are and what a blessing it is to have you in our lives.  We love you Tayton.

The spirit of service for some amazing boys

Even tragedy brings blessings.
I have never felt so much love from so many people.
Some were strangers.
Tears welled up as you could see the spotlight from miles away.
Then you couldn't find a parking spot.  Parked across the street at  walmart and ran in the pouring rain.
From the moment you walked into that little gym you could feel so much love.
The way people smiled at each other.  It's hard to put into words.
From seeing a cousin that drove over 600 miles,  seeing the killpacks, jensens, glovers, winwards, gunthers, youngs, the peak family, ward family, strangers, and the entire town show up to help was undescribeable.
 Christa and Christa
We had so much fun helping and Kali, yes I have been borrowing your bestie!
One good thing is that I have got to spend a lot of time with my niece Tanna.
She has been tough and loves her big brother so much.

We will continue to pray for your recovery.  Love you Tayton.
And Thank you for bringing our family closer.
We are forever!
